Unable to launch on a Windows 7 machine.
« on: March 01, 2016, 01:06:36 AM »
Recently I have on windows 7 machine which is completely unable to launch Agisoft, when I launch it I get a empty cmd prompt with no text that hangs forever but does have the correct icon set. This has been happening with 1.2.3 although was happening before I upgraded versions trying to fix it. I've reinstalled it several times and that hasn't seemed to help. This computer did run agisoft without any significant problems for some time, before it stopped booting.

Let me know what additional info is needed to debug.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Xeon E5-1620 v3 @3.50GHz
64 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 980 4GB

Hello WickedShell,

The problem may be related to the firewall or antivirus (for example, Kaspersky) that is blocking PhotoScan update notifier.

You can check it by disconnecting from the Internet, switching off firewall and/or antivirus and starting PhotoScan again. If it starts, then go to the Preferences tab and turn off "Check for Updates" option, then turn everything on.

I do have Kaspersky installed there :) But I also have it installed on another computer that isn't having any problem. Nothings jumping out as me incorrect on that machine, I granted Agisoft unlimited network access on that machine and its still not working right. Do you know what specific part of Kaspersky might be causing interference?

Thanks for you're help so far.

Hello WickedShell,

Unfortunately, not sure, why Kaspersky is blocking PhotoScan. But can you try the described way of offline PhotoScan run and disabling "Check for updates" option?

From the start menu, you can type "view installed updates" -- maybe you recently had some of the same Microsoft security updates that I do?

I am also running Windows 7. After installing Windows updates yesterday, I have been unable to open Agisoft and other programs that use the graphics card.

The updates were mostly "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework..." Unfortunately, there were 25 updates, so I'm not sure yet what is causing the problem.

Intel Xeon CPU E5-2650 v3
NVIDIA Quadro K2200

Hello barrubba,

Have you checked the previously discussed solutions? Is it possible that antivirus is blocking the application? At the program start-up PhotoScan is checking for the version updates, you may need to disable them in the preferences window, if it is problematic to white-list the application for the anti-virus.
