Optimizing with version 0.8.5
« on: May 27, 2012, 04:39:26 AM »
Hi,
I just upgraded to the new version (0.8.5) and when performing the optimization, I notice the addition of the three check boxes (Fit aspect, Fit Skew, Fit p1 p2).  Looking through the user manual, I can't find any information regarding these functions.

Can anyone offer an explanation for their use and application?

Thanks
Luke

Hello Luke,

These are internal camera parameters:
p1, p2 - tangential distortion coefficients,
skew - coefficient defining the angle between the x and y pixel axes,
aspect - ratio for non-square pixels.

Thanks Alexey,

If you have time, would you mind explaining how the optimization uses these?  Also, were these (some or all) utilized in the previous version (0.8.4) without user input?

Thanks,
Luke

Hello Luke,

Mentioned parameters were used but couldn't be optimized in version 0.8.4.
