Draw 3D Polylines
« on: April 06, 2016, 05:36:50 AM »
Hi everyone!

Is there a way to draw 3D polylines, and export them to a dxf?

IE: Instead of exporting the wireframe mesh, I want to trace the mesh and export what I traced.

Pix4Dmapper gives the ability to draw 3D Polylines, and export them to to a dxf; so I was wondering if Agisoft Pro does too.

Thanks!

Depending on the application I use either GlobalMapper or 3D-Coat

Agisoft allows vector drawings but still in a very limited manner if compared with Global Mapper or any CAD/GIS (no layers, no symbology, no annotations, many other noes). I hope the Agisoft Team will improve the built-in CAD capabilities in the future, so it's time for us to encourage them in that sense.
In the meanwhile I'd strongly recommend Virtual Surveyor as one of the best Photoscan companion if 2,5D feature collection is okay for your needs in terms of drawing.
Best

Solution:

    Start 3D polyline command ("3DPOLY").
Use the "Point Object" transparent command ( 'PO ).
Click on the first point and then on any subsequent points to create the desired line.
The resulting 3D polyline will have vertices with elevations that match the selected points.

New version of Agisoft, supports uploading DEM to 4DMapper, (File->Uplaod DEM) then you can digitize 3D polylines, polygons and save them as 3D dxf in your computer. You can create a free 4dmapper account at https://app.4dmapper.com/

I already exported small part of the project to 4dmapper and I wonder what alse can be done with point cloud.

This is a dense cloud. Can I draw polylines and export them from 4dmapper?

Hi Karol,

Exporting digitized 3D features to dxf from pointclouds will be possible in next version of 4DMapper. Currently you can only export digitized points, polylines and polygons from orthomosaic or DEM to 3D dxf (you can directly upload orthomosaic or DEM from photoscan to your account).

Hi,

Ok, I am waiting for a new version of 4dmapper, meanwhile there is a potential error in Photoscan.
When I upload points to 4dmapper from Photoscan 1.2.4 (2399) only about 1/6 is loaded. I checked the bounding box and it included the whole object. Could you please check this type of export?
regards
Karol
