Depth maps being "stuck" for long time
« on: October 17, 2021, 09:04:22 PM »
Hello,

I'm having some weird behavior from pictures taken with my smartphone.

Usually before the last 3 or 4 updates depth maps took less time and progress bar was somewhat accurate, info does not tell what the software is doing but it gets stuck in 90% or 92% on the last picture while making depth maps. Is the default feedback that way now or is it just my photos?

To be clear, I’m not complaining about the quality or not getting a mesh, it just seems stuck for a while and overall seems like it takes longer than before.

See picture attached for clarification. I also post a log to properly examine.

Also I'd like to know if there is a way to avoid this or mitigate it.

Hello cadforcam,

If you have CPU enabled for the GPU-supported stages, it could be a CPU that is trying to finishe the job. According to the provided log sub-tasks of depth maps generation on CPU could take tens times longer, than on GPU, so you can try to disable "use CPU" option in the GPU Preferences tab of Metashape and check on a similar project, if the process takes less time.

So problem could be cpu still working on last pic?

Ok I'll try on next project, seems like it is that since only cpu is working when that happens.

Thanks

EDIT: that seems to have fixed the problem, last project I did was not "stuck". Thank you again
