PDF Export error
« on: April 26, 2016, 07:45:49 AM »
Hi there,

Could someone help me how to fix export pdf file error as attached picture?

For some reason, suddenly my PhotoScan Pro shows error message when I export model/points as PDF file.
I tried to open old project file which I could export PDF file before, then it shows same message.
However I still can save or export PDF file on other programs such as Word, Excel, or Print as PDF file from Printer setting.
Additionally other export format such as obj, stl, ply and etc. works as usual.

I have already tried uninstalling PhotoScan and installing it again and again, and also re-installed Adobe Acrobat in case if it was the reason, but these never fix the problem.

Opening existing PDF and saving it on other program works as well. Only exporting PDF file on PhotoScan does not work.

Could anyone please let me know what I need to do for this?

My Machine:
Windows 7 Pro SP1
PhotoScan Pro Ver1.2.4

Thanks
Toshi

Hello Toshi,

Could you please specify the number of polygons in the model, texture atlas size and whether you are using any special characters in the model description field, so that we could try to reproduce the issue?

Hi Alexey,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.

Hello Toshi,

And were you able to export models and point clouds to PDF format in the version 1.2.4? Also could you please confirm that there are no writing/access restrictions to the target folder?

Hi Alexey,

Thank you for the suggestion.
It was Version 1.2.4, so I returned to version 1.10 which I have the installer, but it was same.

There are no writing/access restrictions to the folder. I also has made new folder to check, but it has not worked.

Please let me know if I should install any runtimes or something else or something I should inform.

Toshi

Hello Toshi,

Could you also try exporting to U3D format, as it is the first step of PDF export? Thus we'll be able to understand if the problem is related to PDF packing process. However, we were not able to reproduce the problem on our Windows 7 configurations.

Hi Alexey,

U3D file has been exported without any problem, however there is no software which I can open the U3D file, so I'm not sure the data is fine or not.

Does PhotoScan check Adobe Acrobat on computers or it creates PDF file internally?
Anything else what I should do, please let me know.

Or, I guess I should think of clean up my computer before I waste days.
hmm...

Thanks for your kind support!

Hello Toshi,

PhotoScan doesn't use external libraries and applications for PDF export.

Do you recall the last time when the PDF export worked successfully? What could have changed on your system since then?

Hi Alexey,

I believe I did nothing since last successful export.
I had Just shut down the computer and started up for work.
I think It may be windows updates?

It takes whole day, and I shouldn't waste days and I have to take back the delay. So I will refresh my computer to move on my project.

Thanks anyway.
I really appreciate your kind support.

Hi there,

The project has been done by another machine for exporting PDF file. So now I have come back to the machine.
Then, I have just noticed there is another error message in the console as below.

"ERROR: error_no=4119, detail_no=22 "

Could it be a hint to find out the problem?

Best wishes
Toshi

Hello Toshi,

We are still not able to reproduce the issue. According the to the error message the issue may be related to the fact that the file is accessed while the export operation is not finished, that prevents the completion of the operation itself. Probably you have any shell extension that automatically performs the file indexation?

Hi Alexey,

I checked with working computer and the below command is the shell extension when right clicking on the explorer.

・Acrobat9
・NVIDIA control panel
・Ex Antimalware
・Windows Media Player

These are common programs, so I believe these are not the fact.
Anything else you need to know, please let me know.

Thanks.
Toshi

Hi Alexey,

Finally I have resolved the issue.
"Ex Antimalware" had conflicted generating PDF for some reason.

When I completely stopped it from windows services, exporting files as PDF worked!
(Just pausing the program does not work.)

I hope you to evaluate with the software and modify photoscan for future update, but it seems that the software is made by Japanese company, so you may have difficulty with it...

Anyways,  the issue has been solved.
If you receive same question from Japanese customer, please let them know.

Thanks a lot for your patience and kind support.

Best Wishes,
Toshi
