Volume calculation methods

Hi,

I am wondering which method PS uses to calculate its volumes?

There are a number of techniques or algorithms to go about calculating a volume and I cannot find any information anywhere as to which PS uses. Some examples include the DTM method, a TIN method, from grid volumes or the End Area method.
