Measure volume box only shows cubic meters

I'm just starting, and I have not been able to find a solution to my problem.  I need to be able to measure volume in cubic feet, and I have not been able to figure out how.  In the reference pane I have used the convert to select the the correct projection State Plane ND South US feet, but when I measure for surface area and volume, all I get is meters.  In the user manual it specifically says the output is in meters.  Is there a way to measure in imperial units?

i only use meters s i dont know if this can be changed but i use a conversion app for all kinds of stuff including volume calculations so its not a big deal to convert it manualy
