camera position related to model is incorrect
« on: June 10, 2016, 02:19:50 AM »
Hello All,

When show camera option is selected cameras are shown underneath model and I was wondering why this is that. This is a multiple chunk project and other chunks do not have same problem. I have included an image. Thanks.

do photos have geotags? have you ser a coordinate reference system by any means? if both are noes, then cameras might appera to be in any random orientation, in fact they usally the seem to point upwards if by "UP" you mean the +Z direction, is nothing but a comfortable habit

Hello Mel,

Seem like you have linear flight with no information about camera orientation angles. In this case there's no possibility for stable georeferencing due to the rotational degree of freedom around the flight direction.

Hello Alexey and JMR

So I have realized that the problem is not with the camera orientation, i was looking at the wrong side of the model. The problem is the the model is completely black and I am not sure why that is. I have done all the same processing steps to all my chunks and this is the only one with this problem. I have attached a image. Thanks

You need to reset the bounding box.

You can do this by going in Photoscan in the toolbar to Tools > Reset Region

This will re-align the bounding box so that the bottom of the bounding box is perpendicular to the ground earth (based on the geotag information of the model).

If you create a Mesh based on the Heightfield, Photoscan will use the bottom (red part) of the bounding box as the plane on which to calculate a mesh upon. if the bounding box is rotated relative to your dense cloud, the Mesh will turn out wrong (hence the black color). Therefor you need to re-align the bounding box to dense cloud accordingly.

Hello Sitihl,

Thank you, I was able to solve the problem by re-aligning the bounding box.
