Orthographic viewport clipping plane issue.
« on: August 12, 2016, 03:36:17 PM »
This should have an option to adjust how sensitive this is.  Odd because it's the opposite in most other software I use.. perspective has a clipping issue where ortho sees infinite.

Any idea how to fix this?

Hello MeHoo,

It looks like the clipped area is behind the viewpoint. I think you can move the center of rotation away - right click somewhere next to the clipping border and choose Center View option.

Rad.. Thanks for the uber fast support Alexey.  Much appreciated.  Would be nice if there was an orbit viewport option to always keep bounding box center as the center?  Does that make sense?  In max you get three orbit modes, for sub-object orbit, or parent orbit or center viewport orbit.. it seems like photoscan is center viewport always, which makes sense, but it makes orbiting around complex selections nearly impossible with heavy files.

Just an idea.  In either case, thanks for the quick fix/tip!

Hello MeHoo,

The viewpoint center can be translated to the bounding box center using Python scripting.

Which additional viewpoint rotation modes do you think would be convenient for operation?

While making selections of faces or points, it would be useful to be able to orbit from the averaged center of the selection.  This helps refine selections quicker IMHO
