Point cloud downsampling question

Does anyone know how the point cloud is resampled during DEM export? I.e., if the default (max) resolution of the DEM is 0.15 m and I instead decide to export a DEM with a 1 m GSD, how is the point cloud downsampled to that scale? Are all point heights averaged, is nearest neighbor used, or some other method?

I believe IDW (Inverse Distance Weighting) is used for resampling in Photoscan.
