MASKING AND MANUAL ALIGNMENT OF CAMERAS
« on: August 10, 2016, 05:32:07 PM »
Hello,

I have taken a series of photos of an item on a turntable. I took a blank 'masking' image at the start, but, despite cut/pasting the mask image's file name (IMG_XXXX_mask.png; Method:from background; Operation:replacement) and including the correct file origin, the file pathway is not recognised and 'can't load...'. I am sure the solution is very simple but any help is appreciated.

Following the failed masks I masked manually.

Most cameras aligned well but there are a few that did not. Furthermore, the chunks did not align as accurately as I'd hoped.

I have read through the forum you can use markers to manually align cameras that have failed to register in the initial 'Align Photos' stage. There is also an option to manually align chunks in a similar manner.

Is this feature available in the Standard edition? I cannot find n option to set markers anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

DMcG,  You're right:  no markers in standard edition.

Did you filter your shots before aligning?  Right click on one image in the Photos pane and select "Estimate Image Quality" and apply it to all cameras.  Eliminate any photos that Photoscan returns a below 0.5 score for.  That sometimes helps in alignment.

As far as importing masks, I don't ever use that feature myself.  Just drawing a marquee around my subject is enough. I get and have never had any trouble with that method whatsoever.  It sometimes takes a few minutes but that's fine with me.

If you still need some assistance, perhaps you can post one of your photos and (if it's not obvious) tell us what you're trying to make a model from.

Hello Jon,

Thank you for your reply.

I'll give the "Estimate Image Quality" a go.

Cheers

Hello davidpmcg,

If you have set of images with the names like IMG_XXXX.JPG and set of corresponding masks with the names IMG_XXXX_mask.png, you should use the following input for the filename template in the Import Masks dialog:
Code: [Select]
{filename}_mask.png
