Georeferencing one or a small number of maps over time
« on: August 26, 2016, 03:38:51 AM »
I'm doing some university research on mapping fire perimeters and wish to record 1 minute snapshots of a growing wildfire over an hour or so. I have run a few missions with my drone and had success with orthorectifying large areas of aerial photography using Photoscan.

For my research the fire perimeter will be quite small and only need a few photos or will be slightly skewed as the multiple photos are taken as it moves. Is it possible to create a georeferenced aerial photo from a single image or can someone suggest a better process. I expect I could do this manually through my GIS software or create a small single line mission via autonomous drone software with limited skew but a single accurate image would be best.

It would also increase flight time for my DJI phantom 4 as it sits there and hovers rather than wizzing back and forwards.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Phil
