Trouble creating a model of a bridge
« on: September 13, 2016, 10:18:44 PM »
Here are some pictures guys, I took 192 photos, I flew one grid pattern consisting of three lines with 80% overlap.

Then I manually took pictures from both sides of the bridge but I am receiving horrible results.

Is the low lighting a major problem as to why it wasn't created well? As I was pushing it before evening. And I used a DJI Inspire.

What could be the reasons for this? I am still fairly new to Agisoft, here below are some photos to show what Im dealing with. The Dense cloud looks alright but when I create the mesh, and add text it looks horrible.

I would start with masking out all of the water, then run the scan again.

Hello CanadianOne,

As an alternative to the previous advice you can clean up the dense cloud points related to the water (below the bridge) and rebuild the mesh, probably you should use Enabled interpolation instead of Extrapolated option, although it will result in holes for the the areas with the lack of coverage.

Thank you both for the reply. So after creating the dense cloud, delete points then allign photos again? sorry I know, noob question, I am unsure if those are the proper steps

Hello CanadianOne,

You do not need to align photos again, just proceed to the mesh generation after dense cloud editing. If you are following masking approach, then you need to rebuild the dense cloud first, then build mesh.

Ah I see, thank you Alexey. I am still getting poor results, but I have achieved great results with other models previously.

I am going to try taking the pictures again as after I have reviewed them for a second time they appear to have some motion blur and the lighting isnt the best.
