Can't set scale
« on: October 12, 2016, 03:02:18 PM »
I've just updated after putting it off for a long while.  I used to use version 0.9, but since updating I can't scale the point cloud between two markers.

I used to just create two markers, and use the "set reference distance" button (it looked like a measurement square with cursor in a box).

Now I've been reading about using a scale bar and such.  I've managed to create the scale bar, but I can't specify  it's length. I've read other posts that say I have to do this from the ground control pane (in the view menu), but the ground control pane doesn't seem to exist anywhere. (see screen shot).

What am I missing?

Hello JLG,

Ground contol pane has been renamed to the Reference pane for quite a while already.
So you need to put the two markers, create the scale bar between them and input the distance for the scale bar in the Reference pane. Then press Update button on the Reference pane.
Note that you can use multiple scale bars.

Oh, I see it now.  I didn't realize I could double click to type in that 'Distance' cell.  Thanks.

Since you're answering newbie questions, I've also noticed I can't export dense point clouds (in XYZ text format) anymore.  When I click File > export points, I used to be able to choose between a sparse point cloud or a dense point cloud of a specified quality.  Now I only have the option of "Sparse cloud" which is greyed out.  Is it still possible to export a dense point cloud?

Hello JLG,

In the actual workflow you can generate the dense cloud and keep it in the project. So before exporting you need to build the dense cloud using the corresponding option in the Workflow menu. In the older verion the dense cloud was generated each time when export opion is used.
