Hi all!

We have imported a set of pre-aligned camera stations into photoscan. When it comes to creating textures the according buttons are greyed out. Photoscan wants me to align photos internally again but we don't want to touch the present solution.

Is this feature possible within Photoscan?

Hello Matt,

You need to build point cloud (Tools Menu -> Tie Points -> Build Point Cloud). This operation wouldn't refine interior/exterior orientation that has been imported, but will match the photos and reconstruct sparse point cloud.

but does this reposition / reorient my current camera position

Hello Matt,

As I have mentioned, it doesn't refine the parameters or exterior orientation (positions and rotations of the cameras).

I didn't know the phrase interior / exterior orientation.

so all we have to do is:
1. importing the according photos / textures
2. import cameras (named in a specific way?)
3. hit tools menu > tie points > build point cloud
4. create texture

would be nice

Hello Matt,

Usually if you are importing cameras in one of the supported formats via Tools -> Import Cameras you'll be shown the Build Points dialog automatically. Which format are you using?

Also to build the texture you need some mesh surface, that can be either imported (should be in the same coordinate space with the cameras) or generated in PhotoScan.
