Where to go next after exporting model from photoscan
« on: November 21, 2016, 12:10:37 AM »
Hello, i am completely new in photogeommetry, but i am very excited about it.

My question is where to go next after exporting model to .fbx because for example in UE 4 assets looks kinda crappy, although in photoscan they look good. Maybe there is some good tutorials, how should I export .fbx files or maybe i am importing wrong?

I am using kinda crappy photcamera, it is simple hand camera with 12 Mpx.

Hello abyss,

It looks like the texture is not applied on the bottom screenshots, so you need to check if the texture is loaded properly.

And another unrelated comment: if you wish to get rid of the small clusters of the mesh "flying" around the model, you can use Edit Menu -> Gradual Selection -> Connected Components in PhotoScan prior to the model export.
Best regards,

Hi abyss, without further editing your FBX model (cleaning ect.), you have to probably want to use an 'unlit' shader and plug your texture into the emissive slot (Emissive Material, Self-Illuminating Texture) in UE4. Then it will look same as in Photoscan.

Hi guys, thanks for response. I think i have added texture correctly in UE4 because i can see it on the material.

Nedo - Thanks, i will try that step by step when i will be home, at the end of the week, and then will post how its went.

Hello, so I did unlit in UE4 and now it looks great, well for me :D. To increase more quality and maybe create a scene,  I should put more effort in pictures in photoscan or photoscan objects are fine and I have to learn blender or any other 3D rendering tool?

Maybe somebody can recommend any tutorial for beginners at any 3d rendering program, any help will be much appreciated.

P.S here are the objects in UE 4 :)

I can't recommend one, but with a short google search I have found
"3D model using Photoscan and Blender - Part 01, 02, 03 and 04" by Cryonetic Studios.

You can see Part01 here:

Hope it helps.
