Record with video (1080p).. then split it into pictures

Anyone tried that?? I have.. it worked ok.. I figure if you give it loads of frames then maybe itll work better ...

plus is so much easier than having to take all those pictures.

Also, anyone get a 3d model from a human head yet?? Id like to see how good people can do that

interesting idea with the video! I´ll try that sometime soon.

Regarding your head question, I found a company that did a head and more with Photoscan:

They edited the mesh and textures in zBrush or Mudbox though.

I have been trying both ways... taking 15 pictures around an object vs. 1080p video and breaking in into jpgs (about 120).

Seem the video way is better and easier .. still have not got any results I could use for anything though so I need to study how other people are doing ..

Wow, nice results PuffBall, and with so few images!

I've been using video stills and its a great way to quickly capture a person with one camera. Unfortunately, my cheap camera doesn't take good video and it only moderately helps to compensate for a lack of quality in your individual stills by using several times as many pictures overall. If you can capture high quality video, here is a convenient program for quickly grabbing stills from it, http://www.fastvideoindexer.com/download.htm. It allows you to set the time interval for the stills to be captured so you don't end up with every single frame as a still.

I also use Sony HDR and with Free Video to JPG Converter I can extract jpg with different parametrs.

Work better if you remove blurred jpg from sequence.

Open .MTS you can grab directly from Memory Stick, sometimes closing the program appear a window asking for additional programs, simply close it.
