Workflow Using camera positioning coordinates centers
« on: April 14, 2011, 03:31:21 PM »
Hi Dmitry Semyonov,

I do a test with pictures that have known coordinates centers picture, ie <x> <y>, <z>, as I can make the workflow?.

I'm reading the manual but no examples and is not very clear, just found this:

"PhotoScan supports setting a coordinate system based on either ground control point coordinates or camera coordinates. In both cases the coordinates need to be specified in an external file......

Using camera positioning data for georeferencing the model is faster as manual marker placement is not required. On the other hand, ground control point coordinates are usually more accurate then telemetry data, allowing a more precise georeferencing."

Thank you very much for your attention.  ;)

Best Regards,

Diego

Now I can perform a test, creating an archive of cameras, Should we read a little more manual  :-[, and it was great. RMS error = 0.10121m  ;)

But I found problems when exporting the module Export_Points...

Although the program exports to six different formats, in all cases the coordinates are exported defective.  not the Transverse Mercator coordinates, the coordinates of the points of alignment and positioned himself for the cameras are wrong.

This problem is known?  or is it something that is intended to correct in the next version.

When working with arbitrary coordinates proper coordinate exports, but when real coordinates as Transverse_Mercator not work, While the program generates the files successfully, the coordinates do not correspond to reality, it exports the coordinates are wrong.

I hope this is fixed for the next version.

One suggestion that may help to expedite the time alignment with the set of complex data is to align from known camera positions in a Keypoint file with coordinates ( x, y, z ).  This might help.

Best Regards,

Diego

Hello Diego,

Thank you for reporting a problem.

It is know already, and it will be fixed in the next update.

The georeferencing option will be also improved, including a dialog for manual input of ground control point coordinates, as well as support for Tab-separated values file format.

Hello Diego,

Great to hear about the option to manually do an input of GCP's, but in what formats can you export these data? Will it be possible to export a ASCII-file or some other kind of tabulated format which will allow easy qualitative comparison of models with different detail level? I know a guy that has made a piece of software that does automatic georeferencing from GCP's, could you be interested in a collaboration? PM me for more details or contact info.
