I am working on a project using a stereo camera to convert two images into a 3D surface. At the moment I am just in the experimentation phase trying to figure out how it all working, but in the end I will be using to take images of water surfaces. Has anyone has any success in taking images of reflective or shiny surfaces and getting PhotoScan to recognise the features in the images and be able to make surfaces out of them?
Additionally, during my experimentation using non-reflective surfaces, I have been having trouble getting the program to scale correctly. I am using local scaling as my objects are small, things such as bubble wrap and packing paper etc. I have included a short ruler into the images to try and get the scaling right. I have made sure that the camera distance, both from the object and the how far apart the cameras are is correct, and placed markers at the end of the ruler and making sure this distance in included, but the scaling seems to be out by a factor of approx 2.5. Has anyone had similar problems or know something I am missing.
I appreciate any help or advice that you can provide.
