GPU problem on version 1.3 (Mac OS X)
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:45:31 PM »
Hi Alexey!

The new Photoscan version (1.3 build 3772) couldn't recognise the GPUs on my Macbook Pro. On 1.2 they worked well, but now...

Why this is happening?

This is the message that appears on the console:

2017-03-02 11:13:11 Iris Pro: no SPIR support
2017-03-02 11:13:11 AMD Radeon R9 M370X Compute Engine: no SPIR support

Thank you!

Best regards,
B

Hello Bene,

There are some issues with AMD drivers for Mac OS X.

I've sent you the link to hotfix version for Mac OS X via PM. However, in 1.3.0 I still do not suggest to use integrated graphics, like Intel Iris Pro.

Hi Alexey,

You don't suggest to use integrated graphics (Iris Pro) just in v.1.3.0 or in all future versions?

Thanks!
B

Hello Bene,

Just for the version 1.3.0, I think that the problem with them will be solved in the next update.

Hi Alexey,

Can you please share the link to the hotfix with me as well, as I'm also experiencing the same problem on my Mac.

Thanks

I'm seeing the same issues on multiple different Mac configurations. I'd love access to the hot fix patch

I've just upgraded PhotoScan on my Mac to 1.3 build 3772 and my GPU (5K iMac with AMD Radeon R9 M295X) is also not recognised. Also, manipulating point clouds is very slow. A link to the hotfix would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey Alexey,

It seems not possible to reach the link for the lastest release version 1.3.1 from the download main page.

Could you fix that please?

Many thanks and best regards!

Hi I have tested 1.3 and 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 on a Mac pro (late 2008) with OSX Sierra 10.12.5 with a GTX 1080 Ti and no GPU devices are listed in PhotoScan. The card is working but this is a-non-standard mac configurations.

How can I make the available under GPU devices?

EDIT:
found the problem. Needed the CUDA driver from here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-cuda-8.0.83-driver.html
