Measure Area and perimeter ERRORS

Hi all,

I've followed the instructions for calculating the area and the perimeter of a polygon drawn directly on 3D pointcloud but the results are incorrect... Can anyone help me? I don't know if I have done some mistake.
Here my workflow: After building dense cloud I've made a scale bar and I click update. now if I measure the distance between two points the result is correct.
Then I draw a polygon on the surface (I know that is 1 square meter). After double click on shapes in the workspace I have the orto window, right click on the polygon itself and I choose measure.
Here the problem: instead of 4 meters of perimeter the software give me 3.2 meters and for the area 0.64 square meters that is incorrect (I know that is 1 square meter).

Hello Alessandro,

Measurements in Ortho view are planar (in XY plane), so if the surface where your shape is drawn is not absolutely flat in XY plane, then you've different measurement results in Model (3D) and Ortho (2D) mode.

So is it possible to measure the real area of a 3d shape?

For me and also for all the people that works for restoration is crucial...
