Marker Problems since the latest Update
« on: April 25, 2017, 05:17:49 PM »
Dear Community,

I have a problem since the last update 1.3.1.
Before this update you could set a marker on one picture ("create marker") and on the next picture there was this red line which crosses the marker point. So you clicked on your point and clicked "place marker" and everything was fine in every picture.
Now (after create marker) the programm makes the marker on his own und they are all wrong.
I can  move the programm marker but in the other pictures it stays wrong und so the whole setting und scale bars are wrong.

Is there a way to get this red line back? Or to optimize the programm points?

Thanks for answers and help
 :)

Hello User22549,

To reproduce the behavior of the previous version you need to use Place Marker -> New Marker option. It will create new marker instance and put the projection in the desired location.

In the new version when Create Marker option is used PhotoScan estimates the intersection of the projection ray with the available surface (point cloud, mesh) and back projects this marker on other photos.

Hi Alexey !

I take the opportunity to ask you what is the aim of blue flags ? What is their role ?
As they are kind of intermediate role between grey and green ones.

- Grey flag: Presumed position of a marker in a picture. Only indication, no role in calculation.
- Blue flag: ? ? ?
- Green flag: Defined position of a marker in a picture. Used in calculations.

Thanks in advance

P.S. To my mind for the moment blue flags only scare us and we have lots of difficulties to deal with, and that the same with "refine marker projections based on image content" preference setup. Sometimes moving, sometimes not...

Hello Yoann,

Blue flags are marker projections placed automativally  (for example, when Guided marker placement approach is used), they are used in calculations as valid projections. Green flags are projections placed or refined manually by the user.

Hello Alexey !

Thank you for this explanation.
Is there the possibility of deactivating those automatic projections ?
Indeed, when working with huge amount of pictures, it would be easier to manually place markers or shape vertices on a few pictures (ideally placed) than delete or refine automatic projections on a huge number of pictures...
And I guess a wrong automatic projection that we forget to delete/refine would completely break the block aronde this place ?

It's especially the case when handling ground photogrammetry with fisheye lens and a 45° pitch. The horizon is almost always visible as well as the upright of the place. PhotoScan then supposed that almost every pictures are overlapping each others (that makes workflow f*cking longer) but also place automatic projections everywhere...and create a big mess !

Hope something is possible !
