3D vector drawing CAD
« on: September 19, 2012, 04:29:15 AM »
Guys

I really really really NEED help on this.
Two customers are asking me to do a as built CAD drawings of some their plants using my 3D models.
I deliver them in pdf 3d or in ply/obj format.
They saw another company doing this using terrestrial laser scanner, but they want to me to do it.
What I did just for a test: exported the 3D model in dxf and in Autocad Map 3D I tried to draw one plant.
It was painful at least, and the drawing is so heavy that my tech almost couldn?t handle it.
I looked at internet and it seems there is some good softwares to do this, but I would like to know if you know a better software solution to do this.
It seems Autocad 3DS Design do this more easily, but I never used it..

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

What sort of plant is it?

Depending on the type of plant.

This works if you want to work with point clouds, but the program has a very high price.

Another alternative is stereoscopic photogrammetric restitution, there are many options here, depending on the type of photographs.

Regards,

Diego

Hi Diego

We already thought in stereo restitution, but would like to know if its possible to do using meshes.
I had a friend that works with terrestrial lidar and he is doing a lot as built factories plant drawings.
In architeture people are doing this too, so I would like to provide a real solution for those two customers using clouds points/meshes...
