polygon count..
« on: October 19, 2012, 09:37:25 AM »
Hello..

I am making a model from a turntable photo set..

I have 79 cameras... (21 mpix)..

I did a reconstruct at Ultra high settings... with Smooth... well it extracted 850 mill. points (so double it for poly count.. oups :))... with 105 GB ram used.. and then went out of memory...

When I did a High reconstruct, Pscan ended up with 42 millions polys... How come ultra high would produce 40 X more...?...? I notice that even though I have specified 150 mill. polys in prefs. it has to go full def. and then decimated it...

Yes, its create a fullres mesh and then is it decimated...... its better becasue you can control decimation, im planing to measure the difference in decimation in many sw, but hoping that wil have some free itme. But for now is it fastest (opening file and decimation ) Want test in Geomagic, Polyworks and few others....

hey... well yes there is decimate, but still... I did not found any real difference in terms of accuracy by using Ultra high recons., just more noisy... and I found that 800 mill. polys decimated to 80 mill. does not change the look of the mesh at all... so I feel Pscan produces way too many ploys for no reason...
