Best method to attach cameras to support. Cage construction suggestions?

Hello All,  Basic stuff I'm afraid as we are starting out from scratch.

What is the best, most economical method of attaching DSLR's to supports for full body rig.

Any cage construction suggestions also please for a room where autopoles are not an option and ideally we'd like to avoid lightstands if possible - too many legs. A 'cleaner option would be ideal.
