Dense point cloud sampling
« on: May 24, 2017, 01:23:59 PM »
Hello !

I'm pretty sure this topic was mention somewhere else, but I'm not able to lay hands on anymore...

It would be a really nice add-on to give the possibility of down sampling dense cloud after its generation.
Indeed, in my use, high or ultra-high densifications give heavy dense cloud with a too high point density.
But, using a lower parameter (medium) smooth the result too much, especially in sharp corners.

As it's not possible to import a point cloud post-processed outside from PhotoScan, and as i work with the cloud, I can either:
- Create a "medium" dense cloud but cannot get sharp corners.
- Create a "high" dense cloud, get sharper corners but a cloud with a too high density.
While working with large areas, it becomes heavy data for only a couple of important corners.

I may ask a tool that for example resample the dense cloud and keep like 1 point each X mm.

Regards

P.S. The possibility of duplicate the chunk and set different densification parameter is not conceivable, as corners are randomly placed depending on the project

+1, I really need something like this.
