Rendering with Standard Edition
« on: June 13, 2017, 01:14:22 PM »
Hi all,
i have two questions out of following situation:
PC with
Windows  8.1
Mainboard MSI 970 Pro3
Graphic card: ATI Radeon R7 370
CPU AMD 8350
RAM: 32GB
SSD Drive
Agisoft Standard Edition
CPU temperature is good
GPU of graphic card not used by software 'til now (supposed to?)

Project with 280 pics (DNG) for a reason and (to be honest) a "stresstest"
Estimated time to calculate the depth points for dense point cloud 310hours.
Object: Fassade of a house, pics taken in three rows of positions in different heights, always 4-6pics as "station"(camera group in photoscan),

1. How can i speed up the whole process? Yes, i am a bit impatient  ;D
2. Got the idea of building a 2PC-render"farm" myself at home for just and only this purpose.
          - Is the Standard Edition even supporting this?
          - If so: Any tipps where i can look out how to build such a PC cluster, regarding software? Still have some
hardware in stock i could use(?)

Thanks for any help.  8)
!-

Hello thinkpack,

Do you have your ATI card enabled in GPU preferences window?

Can you please also provide the processing log related to the dense cloud generation and overview screenshot of the alignment result with the camera positions and bounding box?

 :) :)
Ah!
Thanks for the quick response.
PC was in it's 36th hour of processing the current "depth data reconstruction for dense cloud".
So interrupted now for setting check and... yes, the ATI GPU was not enabled  :-[     Done.  :)
GPU is used by Photoscan now  :)

Is there an automatic logfile produced every time, even when the process is "interrupted/ended by user"?

Already restarted the whole process. (Did i mention i am impatient  :D)
All(!) pics are aligned and accordingly the RL position shown by camerapositions at program window. Heightdifferences of positions i probably better keep i mind/change next time though.

Sorry about mistakes in the post. Not my motherlanguage and i am more used to talk than write in english.

Program not showing an estimated time yet. Will see. [est. 62hrs now :D ]
Thanks a lot for now.

PS: Still thinking about a 2nd PC/Cluster for rendering. Possible with Standard Edition?

Hello thinkpack,

You can enable "Write log to file" option in the General Preferences tab, so all the information from the Console pane will be also saved to the external file that you can access and review independently from PhotoScan.

Standard edition doesn't support distributed (network) processing feature, so one project can be processed locally on the single computer only.

Hi Alexey Pasumansky,

yes, found it and did enable it when i was looking for the GPU setting.
So i can save the hardware in stock for something else  ;D

Not purchasing the proessional version just because of this feature. Not in my budget (yet). May be in the future.

Thanks a lot for the quick help. From 310hrs down to less than 60hrs is a remarkable difference - by just a click - if you just know....

Have a nice day :-)
