hey friends. I'm new to photoscan and this forum. I'm currently using photoscan for my final project at design school. my textured models look okay in photoscan (pretty imperfect but it's supposed to be that way). They have sharp edges and an overall cool look. when moved to cinema they lose a lot of this sharpness. they look more bumpy, less crisp. more like the shaded model.

I imported them into cinema and activated anti aliasing, besides that I didn't change anything. The texture is very high-res as well (8000x8000px)

I admit, the geometry is pretty awful but photoscan somehow manages to cover up that problem with the texture while cinema doesn't.

Please help
thanks so much

Hello Raoul,

Are you sure that texture is properly applied in Cinema 4D? It looks more like the mesh with the interpolated vertex colors.

hey Alexey, thank you so much for your quick response.
this is my workflow, maybe I missed a step:

- first I built the texture using default settings

- then I exported the model as a 3DS file and the texture as JPEG

- then I opened the 3DS file in Cinema. the texture is set to UVW mapping by default, I didn't change anything

did I miss the step? how do I apply the texture properly?
sorry for my noobish questions and thanks again :)

Hello,

I experienced the same problem.

I have Cinema 4D in german, so I hope I describe everything correct.

The incorrect looking comes from Cinema 4D. He is trying to shade the object in standard mode.
Use the texture not in the color channel, but in the luminance channel and disable reflectance.
That should do the trick.
