UAV flight planning software
« on: June 20, 2017, 04:30:19 AM »
Separate to the existing one I just posted,

This is more a wish function rather than something I know can easily be done.

Generic flight planning software that comes as app for smart device to capture in agisoft the UAV mission with project file already made showing all images captured with overlap choice and a list of generic consumer drone types commonly used (say run a pole on forums for most popular types to run) and option to input your own camera specs to get custom flight lines.  Ability to plan mission and fly multipul with camera references already loaded into Agisoft project for easier integration from flight to processing.

Pix4D has the capture app as you may well know and it works well, Agisoft needs to integrate something like this into the workflow in future for ease of use and further market segment capture.

Secondary, ability to output from Agisoft to Global Mapper, MapInfo or ArcGIS package file that packages all of the deliverables made in Agisoft to other software for GIS and mapping use.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi jamiesbrain,

There are a number of apps already available which help you with flight planning for UAVs from DJI:
1. MapPilot
2. FlyLitchi
3. DJI GS PRO

Acquire images using one of these apps and then simply import them into PhotoScan Pro. Location and even orientation (if enabled in Tools>Preferences>Advanced>Load camera orientation angles from XMP meta data) for each photograph are automatically imported and the coordinate system is automatically set to WGS84.

Not sure about the benefit I would get from a PhotoScan flight planning app. In case of Pix4Dcapture, Skycatch or Dronedeploy you get cloud processing, but that's not an option with PhotoScan (unless you set up your own 'PhotoScan cloud').

You can already export all files from Agisoft in a format that is readable for any GIS software (e.g., GlobalMapper, ArcGis, QGIS, ...). Simply use batch processing for that and export for example the DEM and orthophotograph as geotiff to the same folder. Alternatively, you can use Python Scripting to further customize your processing workflow or to even generate for example a QGIS project file that is associated with your exported data.

Regards
SAV

Hi Sav,

Well aware and know of those apps, use them well.
Would be nice if Agisoft had something that was same but also processed PPK and attributed images etc.

More a want and would be nice to see than a need. :)
Running an end to end solution from capture to deliverable output was more my angle and making the transition easy.

The Mavinci does this in a way by automatically creating an agisoft project with all the images in it ready to roll once you download the flight info from the aircraft post flight, it is a really good way of checking coverage etc post flight and when in the field makes for immediate processing.   I will normally run my photo alignment when driving back on the laptop which as you can imagine improves delivery timings.

Using that in conjunction with the markers agisoft creates and auto id's in the software makes a great productivity improvement compared to the DJI method.

Cheers
