DEM Hillshade editing
« on: May 09, 2017, 06:17:19 PM »
Hi,

Is it possible to edit the scale on the Hillshade view?
Can we change the lowest and highest elevation or set classes?

Thanks
Miguel

Following from the 'Appearance' tab you can either activate or deactivate the grayscale look of the DEM. I have yet to find an option in Photoscan to either change the regular color to a different/ custom scheme, or to change the min/max values.

What do you precisely need this for? You could also download Qgis, which is a free-of-charge and much used GIS package that allows you to do all sorts of operations on products such as raster DEMs. More important in your case, however, it also allows you to change its appearence based on min/max values, classification rules, with/without hillshading, color gradients, etc. etc. Likewise, you can also reclassify your DEM based on min/max values (and classify the rest as NoData) and then export the resultant DEM to almost any format you like!

Hope this helps?

Hi, Thanks for that.

I know about QGIS and I usually use ArcMap for that as well.
However for what I need at the moment this would save me time. Also the resulting Hillshade from Photoscan looks a bit better than the ones from QGIS and Arcmap.

I would just need to know if it's possible to edit the min and max elevation parameters.
Anyone?

cheers

Not yet find a way to do so in the photoscan software.
Have you solve it?
I guess we need to do it either in QGIS or matlab.

Hello liuy0e,

In the Tolls Menu -> Preferences dialog -> Appearance tab -> Ortho View section you can find the instruments to define the  elevation of the light source and it's azimuth.

Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to edit the range of the values (adjust min and max values).
