How to share a 3d textured model on a website?
« on: December 03, 2017, 11:09:14 PM »
Hi, I have an important question. please help me.

I want to make 3D textured models of some  products (like shoes, bags and etc...) with photoscan  to show them on my store website. My website is based on WordPress.

Does anyone have a solution in this regard?
Is there any plugin in this regard?

In addition, I want to upload a 3D model directly to the website, no use of any intermediary website.

Thank you very much.

Hi,
4DMapper, a commercial geospatial cloud platform (free to trial and educational use), now supports sharing and delivering 3D textured and tiled models from the latest Agisoft pre-release (1.4) version with an option to embed shared links in your website. To learn more see this post http://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=8036.0 which includes a video instruction. From there you can generate a sharedlink and use that in your website in an iframe.

Hi mrafiei,

To embed your models without using third party websites, I think you should look to Unity.

But it requires Unity knowledges and some development to allow the interaction you want.

WordPress unfortunately has few plugins for 3d. I did just see one for Marmoset Toolbag files, but I don't know how well that would handle files with millions of triangles.

HTML5 should be compatible with WordPress and there are a number of 3D apps that will output 3D content that format. I do have Simlab Composer, which can create the HTML5, but have not spent a lot of time trying to make it work with WordPress.

Given the large number of WordPress users and the increasing need for 3D viewing, I'm not sure why there is no good solution for this in WordPress.

Hi mrafiei,

Have you tried this Wordpress plugin?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/3d-model-viewer/

Alternatively, use threeJS (it's not 'plug and play' though). Some explanation here:
