Improved mesh detail
« on: January 17, 2019, 02:28:47 PM »
Hi,

Whilst looking at ways to manually texture the meshes, I came across this video of a technique used in Z-Brush which displaces the mesh using the texture maps (the result is around 7 minute onward in the video .

Would it be possible to add this mesh texture displacement option in Metashape? It seems to be a very worthwhile function to make the output significantly better than it is already?

Basically, it's a subdivided mesh (two or three levels) and then the texture baked into the mesh using a displacement modifier. Not so hard to do in Blender or Z-Brush, but would in my opinion be a very handy thing to be able to do out of the box.

This sounds very useful. It would be nice to see this feature incorporated.
