Issues loading DNG images

Hi,

I've been using Photoscan for a while for a number of academic projects, but as of a few months now we can't seem to load DNG images anymore.

This wasn't an issue for a while as we just needed rough prototypes that we could do we JPEG files, but now we are after the better quality of the DNG files and every time we try to add the images we get an error messages stating "Can't Load photos" and the console just gives an "Exit code 1" output

The images are coming froma Pentax K-1 DSLR that we have used DNG files from succesfully in the past.
In fact neither new or older DNG files are working anymore

Are we doing something wrong or has something changed? Any ideas?

Which version of PhotoScan you are using?

Can you provide an example of new DNG that is not working for import?

I'm currently using version 1.4.0 build 5650 (64 bit)
Although the issue has been around for a few updates now

I am having the exact same problem after upgrading from Photoscan 1.2.6 to 1.4.0.  The old version happily read DNG files from my Pentax K-70, but the new version comes up with the "can't load photos" error.  I did a test and opened one of the Pentax DNG files into the photoshop adobe raw loader and resaved as a new DNG file from there - and that loads without a problem into Photoscan 1.4.0.  So it seems there is something specific in the Pentax DNG file format that the newer version of Photoscan is objecting to.

Has there been any progress in resolving this problem?

We have fixed the problem reported above, but you can also send a sample DNG file to support@agisoft.com, so that we can confirm it would work in 1.4.1 properly.

Excellent work!  Any time frame on 1.4.1 release?
Just out of interest - is there any advantage to using raw files in photoscan - does it work in the higher bit modes or does it reduce images to 8 bits/channel before matching points etc?  I have noticed it seems to be able to match better with raw files than jpegs, so I am assuming it does work with the higher bits/channel?

I think it would be released next week.

As for the used color range. Latest versions of PhotoScan are using full available color range from the input images (without downsampling) for the image matching.

Thanks Alexey - DNG files all load correctly now.  The newer versions cause all sorts of CUDA and  kernel errors on my PC at uni - but it works fine on my home PC which has a much better video card.
