Network Licences
« on: February 23, 2018, 09:48:33 PM »
I'm trying to test out networking on a few computer and am having some network issues. I found a old post saying
Quote
PhotoScan instance run in server mode only doesn't require the license  activation  - only processing nodes and client application run in GUI mode (to perform some changes to the project) require activation.
but I'm getting:
Quote
Network processing is disabled in the demo mode. Please activate your copy first.
when launching with the command "Photoscan --node --dispatch <ip>

So am I missing something?

I was able to launch in server mode fine.

Hello DaveRig,

I don't see any contradiction: nodes require to be run from activated PhotoScan Pro, whereas server doesn't require license activation.

You can send the request to support@agisoft.com for a trial license for the network processing evaluation.

ok just so I understand, if I have 3 machines and want to use 1 as a client and server to edit the projects and host and the 2 other machine as just nodes to help process data, I will need 3 pro licences? 1 for the client and 1 for each node?
The server could be hosted on a different machine and not need a licence.

Hello DaveRig,

In principle, if you do not need to have both nodes working simultaneously with the client, it may be sufficient to use only two licenses:
start client (activated) and send the network processing to the server, deactivate the license on client, activate it on one of the nodes and run that node - it will join the started processing.
Later you can deactivate the license on one of the nodes to use it on the client's side.
