Hello From Boston
« on: March 03, 2018, 04:52:51 AM »
Good evening, guys. First post in this forum and after watching many 3d artists use Agisoft for photogrammetry, I figure I would join the fun. So to introduce myself, my name is K.C. and I am a 3d artist from Boston, Mass who specialises in character/creature design, and moving into Motion Capture for VFX. And I wanted to do photogrammetry to scan real life objects for 3D printing and for games. In my first test into Photogrammetry, I scanned a grey belgium block from work and the results were BEAUTIFUL!!! My first time too, using a turntable and no masks (I have a green screen but don't have the space to set it up).

And for my "second" photogrammetry project, I am creating a custom HMC for facial motion capture and I needed a way to do a scan of it. The bike helmet is black so I ended up dusting it with baby powder and stippling the surface with a brush to create the random texture that Agisoft needs to generate the point cloud. My question is, how could I go about doing scans of the inside, and combine the results? I am using the Standard version of Agisoft (going to purchase it later tonight) and I understand markers are only supported in the Pro version. Do you guys have tips for ensuring the scan goes clean? I've tried taking photos under the helmet but I can't get a clean shot.

And I am using a piece of wood to prop up the surface. Could I paint the wood flat black so Agisoft will ignore it? Here is a picture of the helmet at home (sorry for my hand)

I'll have to dust the inside too for an eventual capture. Could I turn it upside down and take pics of the inside? I look forward to sharing my Photogrammetry journey with you all.

Good afternoon, guys. So I have been working on my custom HMC and I need to add images to the dense cloud that Agisoft skipped (for some weird reason) so I can have a complete set of depth for my helmet. I LOVE AGISOFT btw, so easy to set up my scans.

So while I was working on the dense cloud generation, I saw this message in the details:

Code: [Select]
processing matches... done in 0.154 sec
initializing...
selected 61 cameras from 67 in 3.93 sec

So 6 cameras were skipped in the dense cloud. I think I had some overlap in my cameras (which didn't cause any issues when I was generating my model)

My question is how can I add those cameras back to the dense cloud? Or should I just be cool with it and let Agisoft do it's thing? I rotated the helmet every 15 degrees to ensure complete coverage.
