Decimate Image Dataset?
« on: March 08, 2018, 11:01:14 PM »
Due to the nature of my work I often only get one chance to document a feature or object. In order to make sure that my models resolve correctly, I usually take many more photos than I know are necessary (just in case).

Does anyone know of an automated program or script that I could use to efficiently decimate my dataset before processing in Photoscan?

Ideally, this would take the form of a script in Photoscan that would arbitrarily disable photos at a user-defined interval (for example: if a user entered "3", every third image in the dataset would be automatically disabled).

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I will often do this manually when adding photos to a project. I simply set my windows explorer window to a ICON view, and then manually adjust the width of the file explorer window so that only 3 icons appear in each row. Then I drag and select one column of images, as depicted below. No need for a fancy separate software.

I like it! Simple and easy. Just tried it out and works for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also, for the record, I just tried this same approach in the Photos pane in Agisoft and it worked like a charm. This allows me to add the entire dataset and then disable an arbitrary subset. Problem solved.
