sensor.calibration vs sensor.user_calib
« on: September 26, 2025, 06:17:45 PM »
Hi,
I'm currently building a script to process some drone data that has been very sensitive to parameters. This drone has the calibrated focal length and the principal point embedded into the EXIF data. I am parsing it into the chunk through a script, but looking into the manual, I see there are two ways to do this, either by using sensor.user_calib or sensor.calibration. The manual says user_calib is an initial calibration and calibration is adjusted instead. Maybe this is a trivial question but what is the difference between these two? My application seems to work with .calibration, but I would like to understand more into the differences and use cases.

Thanks,
S.

Hello srestrepo,

user_calib is similar to the input to Initial values tab of Camera Calibration dialog, whereas calibration represent adjusted values.

If you need to input pre-calibrated values, then use user_calib and optionally fix all the calibration parameters.
