Pair Preselection

Hello.

It's obvious that pair  pre-selection  is an effective option for reducing Aligning process time in Agisoft Photoscan , but I can't understand if it is useful why is optional?
I mean what we lose when using this option...

If you are speaking about Generic preselection, then for poorly textured scenery/objects it may lead to the loss of the information about overlapping photos, since on downsampled level the matching points may not appear, but on the full size images they could be found.
