Java (JRE) issues using Database
« on: June 14, 2018, 11:06:52 AM »
Hello,

I'm trying to use the Database in OpenOffice and get an error message. Requires Java runtime environment. The selected JRE is defective. Select/ install a new version.
I just updated Java- Apple Inc 1.5.0_24. It's selected in the preferences section of OO
Open Office is 3.2.1 and I'm on a MacBook 10.5.8
The other parts of OpenOffice work fine. Suggestions?

Please help

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

Java Runtime Environment problems
« Reply #1 on: June 14, 2018, 11:07:23 AM »
Hello,

Having found that OO only works with a 32-bit JRE I've installed it, but OO says that neither C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 nor C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin contain a valid JRE. But as far as I can see they're OK, and going to the bin directory in a console session and doing a "java -version" certainly shows a 32-bit JRE. Any ideas how to get OO to work again? Quickly?

Please help
