PhotoScan Computer clustering ?
« on: April 30, 2011, 09:50:41 AM »
Hi, is there some hope to have PhotoScan running in MPI mode using MPICH2  http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/ in order to cluster many computers and speed up the job on huge works ?

This will avoid money waste for supercomputers and can allow us to use many "acceptable price" PCs, also overriding the limit of one CPU that, as i know, for i7 is real.

i5 is becoming cheaper, and many i5 connected by lan can be a good solution, IMO.

Hi Gatto,

I think it 's a good idea  ;), but the best option from what I know, is a development for the project condor http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/ , Geoinformatics applications are using it in recent years and is excellent.  And it is also free. It's a good idea for very large data set.
