Memory Glitch
« on: May 06, 2018, 02:59:34 PM »
Hello. I am fairly new to Agisoft.

A few days ago, I received a new PC with 8gb of RAM. When I try to process simple models, it says "Out of Memory" during the dense cloud or mesh stage. It says this when I have less than 4gb taken up. I know I am going to get answers like "just upgrade your RAM", however, I know this is a glitch or an incompatibility issue because a few weeks ago I processed the exact same model on a computer with only 4gb of RAM. I believe it is only predicting I don't have enough memory when I really do. Is there a way to disable this feature, as it has rendered my new PC useless.

Thanks!

It looks like I was able to solve this problem by enabling my GPU. I had to go into Tools > Preferences > OpenCL and enable my GPU. Hope this helps anyone who was having the same problem.   <----- Scratch that

Hello AJORIGAMI1,

If the problem occurs again, please provide the processing log from the Console pane related to the failed operation.

Hello AJORIGAMI1,

There's error related to Intel HD card, so you need either to install latest driver or disable it in GPU Preferences tab.

Also are using 32-bit or 64-bit version of PhotoScan?

It's 64 bit. I'll see if I have the latest drivers. Here is the log when I have GPU disabled :

Hello AJORIGAMI1,

Do you experience that on any processing settings (I don't see the lines related to the current settings in the log)?

What is the input images' resolution and their bit depth?

If I use less than 30sih 12mp photos on very low setting (for dense cloud), it works sometimes. I use aggressive depth filtering. The thing is I know my computer is powerful enough because I performed the exact same test on a less powerful APU with less RAM. I'm sorry, I don't know what the bit-depth of the images are, but they are JPEGS that are about 3.8mbs. I installed the latest driver for my GPU, but it did not help. The test you saw was medium quality I believe.

Hello AJORIGAMI1,

Can you provide the full log from the starting lines that also includes the log of the failed operation?

Also have you checked the memory consumption in the Task Monitor for PhotoScan application, does it hit the limit?

:o I am soooooo sorry for wasting your time... I was wrong and somehow I accidentally installed 32-bit software. I am so stupid. I can't express how sorry I am. Thank you for the help!

Hello AJORIGAMI1,

No problem, at least the issue is solved.

If you still see OpenCL errors related to GPU processing on Intel HD card in the log, I suggest to disable it in Preferences.
