DJI Zenmuse X7
« on: May 07, 2018, 10:41:51 AM »
Has anyone used a Zenmuse X7 for digital photogrammetry purposes?
https://www.dji.com/zenmuse-x7

On paper, it seems to be a great camera for several reasons:

1. Sensor size:  23.5×15.7 mm (= APS-C size!!)
2. Resolution: 24 MP
3. Shutter: electronic & mechanical shutter
4. Dynamic range: 14 stops
5. Prime lenses (from 16mm to 50mm)
6. Shoots raw - for people who want to push the boundaries  ;)

As far as I know, it is only supported by the DJI Inspire 2 and does not work on a Matrice 200/210 or Inspire 1.

Not sure if the X7 is supported by mission planning apps such as DJI GS Pro, MapPilot, Pix4Dcapture or others.

Would be great if someone could share his/her experience/knowledge  :)

yes looks good on paper.
I use the X4s, which has very similar specs, just lacks Dynamic Range (11.6) and the ability to switch lenses.  This can be great if you have a altitude restriction, you can use a wider angle lens,
Yes DJI GS Pro supports the X7
The bigger lens also can be nice in my opinion.  I notice less lens distortion when using bigger lenses.  But calibration can help with that.
With my current rig (X4s, m200 and a on board PPK system) i am achieving max 12cm vert error at 120agl
I think it would be better than the X4s, but would it be worth the price difference and limited platform, maybe not
