Geforce vs. Radeon?

Hi

I am running Photoscan on a computer with a Gigabyte HD5870 and I am wondering if this improves performance when deactivating cores from my AMD Phenom II X6 1090t? Or is it recommended that I change to a GeForce card?

Hello Kjellis,

Unfortunately we haven't made thorough comparison of GeForce vs Radeon yet, but our preliminary tests show that GeForce outperforms Radeon on PhotoScan algorithms.

For your specific configuration, I would recommend to run the same reconstruction twice with GPU acceleration enabled and disabled to see the difference. PhotoScan prints processing time in the Output pane after finalizing each processing step. Processing time for the specific chunk as well as some other information can be also displayed using "Show Info..." command from the chunk context menu.
