Using the turntable method
« on: July 03, 2018, 06:47:24 PM »
Hi All,

I'm completely new to Photoscan. When using the turntable method do I need to somehow make photoscan aware that my camera is stationary, if so how do i do this?

Also what are the most common reasons for the turntable method not working? Currently i have no/poor point matching and sometimes it doesn't even align the cameras.

Thanks for all your help,

Luke

Luke,
To answer quickly, firstly there's no need to take steps to try and notify PhotoScan that your camera is stationary.
Most common reasons for the turntable method not aligning is that the masking has been omitted, and the software aligns on the static points.  A recognisably distinctive pattern on the turntable itself - be it a piece of newspaper, or an array of targets, can help alignment. Another reason for poor performance is that the object/artefact doesn't occupy as much of the frame as it could.
