Help exporting points
« on: July 08, 2018, 08:20:36 PM »
I recently flew a mission of a drainage ditch. I flew at 200ft with 80/75 overlap, ended up with around 560 images.I used 10 gcp’s. I normally just make a model and or orthomosiac.  I need to export the points to send to someone.  They will use the points to calculate the capacity of the ditch at flow line at a certain elevation.   My question is  can I export point, then export sparse cloud points.  Or would I need to export the dense cloud points.  Is the sparse point cloud accurate enough for measuring. The dense cloud point exported is about 2.35 gigs.  I’m exporting this as a txt file. They only need the points in x,y,z format.

Hi, try to export in PTS and then sample file in other software - ex cloud compare. Try different space between points to get result you expect.
Personally I think you will need also divide file into parts.

Hi Apavlicek,

Export the dense point cloud in *.LAZ format. Should give you smallest file sizes.
