Automatic "chunking" of processes
« on: September 17, 2018, 08:07:44 PM »
I'm not an expert with this stuff, but I had an idea for a feature.
Is there a way to split the single chunk generation process into smaller parts without having to manually set chunks and align them? This would result
in a single model rather than multiple different models to have to stitch together. Aligning different models sometimes doesn't work because of strange scaling inconsistencies and image quality can be low from distant scene details when working with a large environment.
This could also help with high memory requirements, that way if you exceed your RAM limit you don't have to go into the paging file / RAM swap mode. It would help users with a wide variety of hardware configurations.

Thanks,
Cru

Hello Cru,

If you are using PhotoScan Professional, then you can enable Fine-level task distribution in the Network processing tab of PhotoScan Preferences window. It will perform the sub-tasking process to the PSX project that is being processed in the local mode (it is similar to the network distribution, but is applied to the local processing). However, at th moment not all tasks do support such kind of distribution.
